SRI Weeders Manual In SRI, weeds are not seen as a
problem, but as an opportunity. As the weeds are incorporated into the
soil by way of mechanical weeder, it helps build up of soil organic
matter and subsequently large and diverse micro- bial population in the
soil. Thus mechanical weeding operation facilitates the process of
aeration in the soil. This in turn mobilizes the micro nutrients
required for the healthy growth of the rice plant.

SRI Innovation History and Institutional Challenges
The System of Rice Intensification, or SRI for short, is a fascinating
case of rural innovation that has been developed outside the formal
rice research establishment both in India and the rest of the world.
This report documents the history of this practice in India in the last
few years and presents some of the institutional changes and challenges
of SRI as farmers and other actors are continuously shaping it through
their practice.
